Before the first lesson (for English tutors)

How to use the Rihisi platform to communicate with the student before the first lesson and how to prepare for an awesome first lesson

We suggest going through some technical preparations and getting the settings right.

Rihisi teaching guide - before the first lesson

  1. Go to “My request” page and check out your students’ learning goals.

  2. Send a message to your student thanking them for making the booking.

  3. Encourage your student to take the Rihisi Placement test. You can send them the link in messages. The Placement test has a Speaking section that you can use to find out about their goals and their interests. This will allow you to prepare for your first lesson.

  4. Ask your student to briefly clarify their goals. What skills are they looking to improve?

Sample Message (for B1+)

Hi Amy, thanks for booking our first lesson.

I am looking forward to working with you to improve your English skills.

Here is the link for the Placement test. It will take you about 20 minutes and will allow us to prepare a personalized Learning plan for you. There is a section on the Placement Test that covers your goals, but I would love to know what you need from me and what you are hoping to achieve.

Thanks,
