FAQs about the updated Super tutor criteria
Why did Rihisi decide to update the Super tutor metrics?
After gathering more data on what positively influences a student’s learning experience, we’ve decided to update our criteria.
This change makes the Super tutor status accessible to tutors who aren’t taking on new students, and raises the bar in other areas that are important for learners.
What is the new criteria and what has changed?
You’ve taught 4 or more trial lessons (no longer a requirement 🔴)
You have a lesson rating of 4.8 or above (no longer a requirement 🔴)
You've encouraged at least half of your trial students to pay for a subscription (unchanged 🟡)*
You’ve taught 40 or more lessons (increased from 30 🟢)
You haven’t canceled more than 5% of your trial lessons (decreased from 20% 🟢)*
You have a tutor rating of 4.8 or above (increased from 4.5 🟢)
You haven’t been absent for any lessons (trial and non-trial lessons 🟢)
You haven’t rescheduled more than 10% of your trial lessons (new requirement 🟢)*
You have replied to at least 90% of the first messages from potential students in less than 24 hours (new requirement 🟢)**
*If you do not teach any trial lessons during the 90-day period, these criteria will not apply to you.
**This requirement will not apply to you, if you don’t receive any first messages from potential students during the 90-day period.
What is the response rate and why is this important?
Response rate is a calculation of the % of first messages from potential students that you responded to within 24 hours.
For example, if you have received 10 messages from potential students during the last 90 days, and you replied to 9 of them within 24 hours, your response rate will be 90%.
These criteria are important because we know that students value responses from tutors and are more inclined to book a trial with tutors who respond promptly.
What if I receive an inappropriate message from a student and I don’t want to respond to it - will it negatively affect my response rate?
No, you should report any inappropriate messages, and they won’t count towards your response rate score.
What is the trial reschedule rate and why is this important?
This is similar to the trial cancellation rate requirement. It looks at the % of trials that you have rescheduled over the last 90 days.
For example, if you received 10 trial bookings during the last 90 days, and you rescheduled 1 of them, your trial reschedule rate will be 10%.
We’ve added this requirement because the trial lesson is a very important part of a student’s experience with Rihisi. Learners may be reluctant to book more lessons with a tutor who reschedules trial lessons.
