The most successful tutors create a sense of urgency to retain their students after the first lesson. Here are some of their techniques you should try yourself:
Here’s how top Rihisi tutors retain their students creating a healthy sense of urgency:
“I coach my students towards success by taking the initiative to organize them. I always agree on lesson dates and times and tell them to book a package of hours as soon as the lesson ends so that I can schedule our lessons”. - tutor Veronica H.
“I identify some of their obstacles and remove them fast. For example, when students tell me they’re not sure about their availability, I tell them to focus on their weekly schedule, and they often find a couple of free slots to take the classes”. - tutor Adrian D.
“I make smart decisions for my students, I act in a confident manner. I often find students need someone to make the decision for them, so I give them plenty of valuable reasons to start learning quickly. I tell them to book a package of hours”. - tutor Carlos G.

We spoke to Jubin, a finance and economics tutor on Rihisi to find out how he retains students. Learn his secrets.
Rihisi: Jubin, you’re a very successful tutor. Students purchase packages of hours almost straight after their first lesson with you.
How do you achieve this?
Jubin: Once I get a message from a potential student, I make sure that I respond straight away.
Rihisi: What kind of information do you include in your response?
Jubin: I want to find out what their exact needs are, so I ask them specific questions about their learning goals. The more information I obtain from students, the better I can plan my first lesson and remain student-centered.
Rihisi: How do students tend to respond to your first communication with them?
Jubin: Very enthusiastically. They understand that I am serious about helping them achieve their learning goals, and they put their trust in me.
Rihisi: How do you start your first lesson with students?
Jubin: I always start by summarizing their goals. Then, I give them a good explanation of my overall teaching plan for the following lessons. That is why I must know about their goals beforehand, to enable me to create a plan, a vision for them.
Rihisi: So do you teach during the first lesson?
Jubin: Of course! And I always end the first lesson by giving them feedback and setting an objective for the next lesson.
Rihisi: And how quickly do they buy a package of hours after the first lesson:
Jubin: Very quickly! That way, we can schedule their next lessons and continue with their learning.
